The Bud Light Pro Beach Volleyball League action will continue next weekend in St. Paul, Minnesota, as the men take the week off and the women hold the spotlight all to themselves. The final will be televised LIVE by CBS at 3 p.m. EST.
Gabrielle Reece (La Jolla, Cal./Florida State) led Team Nike with 9 kills and 3 blocks as Nike snapped a four game losing streak by beating Team Discus Athletic 16-14 in their opening round match.Team Nike and Team Paul Mitchell both ended the day at 1-0 and will meet in the opening match on Saturday.
Team Sony Autosound and Team Discus Athletic both end day 1 in the round robin at 1-1, while Team Norelco finished at 0-2.
Team Paul Mitchell earned an automatic berth into the women's finals on the final day of play with a 3-1 record. They will play the winner of the Nike (2-2) vs. Norelco (2-2) semi-final match.Teams are seeded after round robin play by win-loss record. If there is a tie among seeded teams, the first tie-breaker will be points-for (PF) versus points-against (PA), with the second tie-breaker being a ratio of PF/PA. The third tie-breaker is their head-to-head record.

The victory is OP's second consecutive and third overall win on the 1996 season (New York 6/2 and Chicago 6/23). Paul Mitchell has reached the final match two times in a row, both times resulting in losses to OP. Mark Presho (San Diego, CA/Univ. Hawaii) led Paul Mitchell with 7 kills but he also had 9 hitting errors.
Paul Mitchell and OP both advanced tot he final match with 3-1 records. Outdoor Products finished in third.

Outdoor Products finished the day at 1-0 with a win over Sony Autosound.
Team Paul Mitchell (2-1) will advance to the finals unless they lose by 10 points or more in tomorrow's semi-final match against Sony Autosound (1-2).In the other semi-final match, Team OP (2-1) will advance if they beat Outdoor Products (1-2). Outdoor Products will advance to the finals if they win by 5 or more points.
