PAUL MITCHELL WINS BOTH MEN'S AND WOMEN'S LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS
SONY AUTOSOUND AND OUTDOOR PRODUCTS TAKE TOURNAMENT

SANTA CRUZ, CA (Aug. 31, 1996) -- Team Paul Mitchell won both the men's and women's Bud Light Pro Beach Volleyball League Titles for the 1996 season this weekend in Santa Cruz, Calif.

In the Santa Cruz championship today, Sony Autosound defeated Paul Mitchell 15-8 in the women's final. Paul Mitchell, who was playing without team captain Janet Cobbs (St. Paul, Minn./North Dakota State), secured the League Title due to their grand prix points. Former Stanford Cardinal and 1992 Olympic Bronze medalist Kim Oden recorded 5 kills and 3 blocks for team Sony Autosound in the women's final.

In the men's championship Outdoor Products beat Paul Mitchell 15-10, however their grand prix points left them just one point shy of winning the League Title, giving Paul Mitchell the 1996 crown.

Dan Hanan (San Diego, Calif./Stanford) led Outdoor Products with 10 kills, 1 block, and 1 ace. Paul Mitchell sufferred a bigger loss today by losing Jeff Williams (Santa Monica, Calif./UCLA) with a shoulder injury mid-way through the final match.

The Santa Cruz tournament marks the final tour stop on the Bud Light Pro Beach Volleyball League.

TEAM OUTDOOR PRODUCTS AND TEAM PAUL MITCHELL
VYING FOR LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP

SANTA CRUZ, CA (Aug. 31, 1996) -- The 1996 Bud Light Pro Beach Volleyball Men's League Championships is still up for grabs as a result of today's round robin action. Outdoor Products, who posted a win over Sony Autosound 15-8, will head into tommorrow's action 3-0 at the Bud Light Pro Beach Volleyball League's final tour stop of the season.

Team Paul Mitchell posted a victory over Team OP today 12-11 to remain in the best position to win the league championship tommorrow with a 2-1 record. Team OP, who went 0-2 on the day and 0-3 in the tournament, dropped out of the championship chase. Sony Autosound posted a 1-2 mark heading into Sunday's action with a 15-10 win over OP and a 15-8 loss to Outdoor Products.

In the Women's tournament Team Paul Mitchell finished 4-0 and earned the automatic berth into the championship match. They will play the winner of the Sony Autosound vs. Norelco semi-final match.

Bud Light Pro Beach Volleyball action will conclude tommorrow with men's semifinal matches starting at 9:30 a.m. The women's semifinal will begin at 12:15 p.m. The women's tournament final will begin at 2 p.m. and will be followed by the men's final at 3:30 p.m. both matches will be taped for ESPN.
