ROUND ONE FRIDAY, MARCH 13 (Qualification 7-16)
Three-day round robin competition where each individual player will continually switch partners and accumulate overall points and prize money based on number of games won. The player with the most points at the end of the event will determine first place. Teams consist of two players and all matches are played to 15 points.
DAY 1 - FIRST ROUND
Players ranked from number 7 - 14 on the AVP computer ranking system will
compete for two spots to join the top six players in the second round of the
Miller Lite King of the Beach Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The
players will be divided into two groups of four players each. Each player
will play three matches during the day with a different partner. For each
match won, a player in each group will earn one point and split $4,000 per
team. At the end of the day, the player in each group who has accumulated the
most points will earn a second round berth. Games will use the traditional
beach volleyball scoring system: the first team to 15 points wins with side-
out scoring. An eight minute clock for each match will be used.
DAY 2 - SECOND ROUND
The top six players on the AVP computer ranking system plus first round
winners will compete. Players will be divided into two groups of four as set
forth above. Each player will again play three matches with a different
partner within their group. A player will earn two points for each win and a
team will earn $6,000. The two players in each group with the most points at
the end of the day will compete in the final on Sunday.
DAY 3 - FINAL ROUND
The top four players from Day 2 will each play three matches with each player
earning 3 points and each team earning $20,000 for a win. The player with the
most points at the end of the tournament will determine first place.
