Stokloa and his partner Lewis who teamed with Scott Ayakatubby to win the AVP West Michigan Open in 1996, advanced to the finals after defeating No. 2 seeds Troy Tanner and Mike Whitmarsh 15-7 in the contender's bracket final match. For Lewis and Stoklos, this weekend marked their first tournament together since pairing for nine tournaments in the 1993 season.
Tanner and Whitmarsh recorded a third-place finish while playing in their first tournament together after they defeated No. 7 seeds Ian Clark and Canyon Ceman 15-10. No. 5 seeds Karch Kiraly and Adam Johnson took home a fifth-place finish after falling 15-10 to Tanner and Whitmarsh. No. 10 seeds Dax Holdren and Todd Rogers, matched a career high with their second fifth place of the season.
