AT $125,000 MILLER LITE OPEN AT MILWAUKEE
MILWAUKEE (July 20, 1996) -- The seventh-seeded team of Brent Frohoff and Ricci Luyties pulled off a 15-7 upset Saturday over the No. 2 seeded team of Scott Ayakatubby and Brian Lewis as they reached the winner's bracket semi-finals for the first time this season before nearly 4,000 fans at the $125,000 Miller Lite Open in Milwaukee.
Looking to repeat their championship performance of 1994, the tandem of Frohoff and Luyties will join No. 1-seeds Adam Johnson/Jose Loiola, No. 3-seeds Bill Boulianne/Eric Fonoimoana and No. 5-seeds Rob Heidger/ Troy Tanner in Sunday's winner's bracket semi-finals scheduled for a 9:30 AM start.
Randy Stoklos and Eduardo Bacil, the No. 4 seeds, rebounded from yesterday's upset loss to No. 29 seeds Tod Ahmadhi/Stace Lougeay with three contender's bracket victories, assuring themselves no less than a seventh-place finish.
