RESULTS

Karch Kiraly and Adam Johnson win in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (AUGUST 2, 1998) - The No. 1 seeded team of Karch Kiraly and Adam Johnson took home their fourth victory of the season together on the Miller Lite/AVP Tour as they defeated the No. 2 seeded tandem of Brian Lewis and David Swatik 13-9 to win $50,000 Miller Lite Open at Milwaukee.

Kiraly and Johnson were able to bounce back from an 13-11 loss in their semifinal match against Lewis & Swatik earlier in the day to capture another tour victory. After a strong start in the final with a 7-4 advantage Kiraly and Johnson saw Lewis and Swatik turn up the heat in Milwaukee by climbing back to within two points (11-9) before shutting them down for the remainder of the contest.

The semifinal match in the loser's bracket saw Kiraly and Johnson pull-out a close victory over Franco Neto and Roberto Lopes defeating them 13-11 to advance to the finals for their match against Lewis and Swatik. Neto and Lopes lost their second match of the tournament and fought their way back through the loser's bracket by winning six matches to take home a third place finish after losing the semifinal match.

Lewis and Swatik were handed their first lost of the tournament in the final match after a strong showing in Milwaukee. In the quarterfinal match, Lewis and Swatik pulled out a win by defeating last weeks winners in Minneapolis Dax Holdren and Todd Rogers 12-9 to advance to the semifinal match. Holdren and Rogers were unsuccessful against Neto and lopes in the loser's bracket being defeating 15-6, giving them a fourth place at the Miller Lite Open at Milwaukee.

The Miller Lite/AVP Tour resumes play next weekend as the tour returns to Atlanta for the $50,00 Miller Lite Beach Challenge at Atlanta. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster at (404) 249-6400.
