National Volleyball Association

Expands Nationwide for 1997 Season

SAN DIEGO, CALIF., (Nov. 25, 1996) - The National Volleyball Association (NVA) has made significant expansion moves during its off-season as it prepares to enter its fourth season. The NVA will expand to six teams in six states: Tucson, Arizona; Denver, Colorado; Salt Lake City, Utah; St. Louis, Missouri; Iowa and Nebraska.

"We are very excited with the moves we've made," said Kimberly Coleman, Director of Operations. "We spent months researching the key expansion markets and concluded that these were the best areas to support a women's pro volleyball team. The response and support we are receiving from these communities has been tremendous.

The NVA will begin its season Saturday February 1. The season will conclude with its fourth annual Championship Match on Saturday May 10. A complete schedule of dates and sites will be released next week.

The National Volleyball Association will again feature many superstars in professional volleyball.
